Multiplexed data can use existing LAN, WAN, and Internet connections at the same time.Great for remote office and branch office extension and access.Creates an encrypted QoS tunnel between local and remote sites.Password-protected Web-based management, SNMP, and CLI management. Per-port configurations for speed, flow control, echo, and testing. Automatic MDX (auto-crossover) detection and configuration on Ethernet ports.
Linking a number of asynchronous terminals, hosts, and other devices just got a whole lot easier. With the Black Box® 8-Port Async Stat Mux with IP Access, you can transmit the composite data stream from multiple async devices over the Internet or a private IP network.
This way, you can connect to any synchronous dedicated WAN or IP-based Ethernet network without the expense of dedicated lines. What's more, by adding an IP network connection to your system, you can be at the forefront of industrial networking.
The 8-Port Async Stat Mux with IP Access also "futureproofs" legacy equipment by providing access and connectivity to the IP-based network while simultaneously supporting existing sync serial connections. It's the ideal replacement for aging multiplexors connecting PLCs, meters, gas pumps, and similar async devices, particularly those in industrial automation networks.
Flexible multiport async terminal connectivity.
The 8-Port Async Stat Mux with IP Access combines 115.2-kbps output streams from up to eight RS-232 devices, consolidating the signals onto a single sync WAN link or IP/Ethernet LAN connection for transparent multiplexing.
The integrated composite port on the stat mux gives you a standard sync link connection to NTUs, DSUs, or traditional WAN services. Connect to your dedicated WAN or, more inexpensively, use standard PPP or Frame Relay networking. It's your choice.
The stat mux offers straightforward setup. Simply run a twisted-pair cable from your broadband modem's subscriber port to the first Ethernet port on the mux and another network cable from the second Ethernet port to your LAN. To connect to a WAN, just patch a DB25 cable from the unit's DB25 composite connector to your V.35 NTU device.
Secure, reliable, and easy to manage.
One 8-Port Async Stat Mux with IP Access unit, configured as the master, communicates with a second stat mux unit (the slave), typically, at a remote site.
For end-to-end security, the stat mux performs IPSec encryption across the public network. Plus packet labeling and integrated data QoS with user-configurable flow control ensure higher service quality. Beyond that, it performs CRC-16 checks, transparent data checksums, and in-order data delivery. If there is an error, the stat mux retransmits data automatically.
For local and remote configuration, control, and troubleshooting, the stat mux offers integrated management. A supervisory port on the front of the unit enables out-of-band access, or you can use a LAN-based service (such as Telnet, SNMP, or an HTTP browser) to manage it remotely.
Get a complete view of your port connections at any time. A terminal configuration screen displays the list of terminal ports and the current state of the ports. Through this interface, you can view traffic statistics, review channel status, monitor events, and more.
