Hardened Ethernet Switch, AC Power, (6) 10-/100-Mbps RJ-45 Ports plus (1) 100-Mbps Multimode SC Port and (1) 100-Mbps Single-Mode SC (20-km) Port

Please call 877-877-2269 for a replacement product or part.

  • Plug-and-play, software transparent.
  • Two fiber ports—the single-mode SC port transmits up to 20 kilometers (12.4 mi.) away!
  • Daisychain the switches for a fiber optic Ethernet network hundreds of kilometers long!
  • Six 10-/100-Mbps RJ-45 ports provide half- or full-duplex operation.
  • Can be installed in NEMA 4 metal enclosures for all-weather outdoor use.

  • Networking isn't always done in climate-controlled offices. Sometimes your Ethernet network is an outright inhospitable environment where the temperature extremes wreak havoc with your office devices' circuitry. That's why you need this industrial-strength Black Box® Hardened Ethernet Switch, designed to operate in applications where the temperature cannot be controlled, from the withering heat of the desert sun to the numbing cold of arctic conditions.

You can use this Hardened Ethernet Switch to collect roadside traffic data and at control stations, industrial plant locations, in plenums and ceilings in commercial buildings, and military tents and field sites.

    Case made of steel.
The rugged, 18-gauge steel case is engineered to function as a heat sink, to draw the heat away from the internal electronics and dissipate it. To minimize the heat dissipation problem further, the switch uses only 15 watts of power.

Built tough, this Hardened Ethernet Switch is virtually impenetrable. Problems such as convection air, insects, dirt, and dust can't enter. And if the switch happens to be adjacent to a building fire or a plenum fire, the case will not allow smoke inside to damage the electronics. For complete invulnerability to the elements, the switch can be installed in a watertight NEMA 4 metal enclosure for all-weather outdoor operation.

Mix two parts Ethernet with two parts media...
Each switch features six autonegotiating RJ-45 ports for 10-/100-Mbps applications. These ports operate in either half- or full-duplex mode. In addition this switch is equipped with two ports for full-duplex, 100-Mbps fiber optic connectivity.

This switch comes with one multimode SC port plus one single-mode SC port. For two multimode SC ports, order model LB9901A. For two single-mode SC ports, order model LB9903A—the single-mode SC ports enable transmissions up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles)! Daisychain any of these switches in "string" applications and create an Ethernet network hundreds of kilometers long! Configurations with more than 10 units in a string have been tested with normal data traffic.

    Plug-and-play hardware that adapts quickly.
Installation is plug-and-play, and operation is transparent to software.

As a hardware switch, this Hardened Ethernet Switch only forwards those packets from each domain that are needed on the other domains. Internal address tables are self-learning, so you can change port connections or 10/100 domains without affecting operations.
