Infrastructure as a Service and Software as a Service
At Black Box we recognize the key differences between Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Black Box defines these differences as core infrastructure versus applications. Whereas IaaS includes network capacity, VoIP, Unified Communications, computing power, and core elements that deliver the content from the cloud or private data center, SaaS is defined as the application suite that would be used from the Cloud or Data Center environment (i.e. the content).
At Black Box we offer IaaS to clients either in a Hosted model such as our NuVia Unified Communications solution for enterprise Government clients or in a private cloud environment where we help your agency design and build the Infrastructure to host the capabilities within your private domain.
Software as a Service (SaaS), sometimes referred to as “on demand software”, is a software delivery model in which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. SaaS is typically accessed by users using a thin client or web browser. One of the most significant benefits for our customers is the potential to reduce IT support costs by outsourcing the hardware and software maintenance and support to a SaaS provider.
GENBAND NUViA Cloud Service
The Black Box GENBAND NUViA cloud service offering is a SIP-based SaaS platform created to offer a wide range of next-generation multimedia services to multiple enterprise customers. The NUViA platform provides a full set of SIP features to a diverse range of IP-based clients, delivering converged voice, video, and multimedia applications. Black Box NUViA provides an enterprise-class cloud-based solution. SIP clients supported include:
- SIP hard clients such as desk phones
- SIP soft / mobile clients, which run on a Windows PC operating, Android, Apple iPhone and iPad devices
- SIP Web Clients, which operate using HTML browsers

Users can define their communication preferences, while the network maintains these communication profiles.
