| Excalibur® Card Carrier High-Density Chassis |
|
|
The Excalibur® Card Carrier is a high-density, central-site chassis for Milgo's Excalibur Network Access Resource (ENAR) family of communication products and systems. Each chassis can house up to 16 single-card devices in a space just 10 inches high by 17 inches wide. Six chassis, housing up to 96 devices, can be installed in a standard 6-foot high rack. (The housing capacity is reduced when option cards such as Multiport are installed.)
Virtually any combination of ENAR products can be intermixed within the same chassis. These products include modems, digital access products, and T-1 CSUs. In addition, the chassis houses all components of the Excalibur Dial Restoral System. The Excalibur Card Carrier gives you convenient front access to all installed devices. You can remove or add any device without having to remove cables or power down your network.Master Control Panel
The Master Control Panel provides single-point control for all Excalibur
devices in the rack. The removable hand-held control panel has 11 pushbuttons and a
7-line by 32-character LCD screen that let you monitor, configure, or test any
installed device.
The Master Control Panel continuously monitors the status of all installed devices. If it detects a significant event (alarm, call, or test), the LCD screen displays an easy-to-read icon beneath the address of the particular device. If a device is removed from the chassis, the control panel automatically deletes its address from the screen.

Individual Status Indicators
Each Excalibur device has a pair of LED indicators, labeled Test and User,
that are visible through the front of the chassis. The Test indicator lights when the
device has a test or loop running. The conditions that cause the User LED to light are
user-programmable. The smoked plastic windows on the front of the
chassis provide a convenient place to insert circuit identification tabs.
Optional Automatic Backup Power
Each chassis can be powered by a pair of redundant power supplies. When
both power supplies are working, they share the load between them. If one supply fails,
the other takes over the entire load automatically. Each supply has an LED indicator to
alert you to its current operating status. Both AC and 48 volt DC power supplies are
available, allowing the following backup power arrangements:
AC-DC provides DC backup to AC primary power
DC-DC provides DC power supply redundancy
Easy Customer Maintenance
The Excalibur Card Carrier features a modular design that makes it easy to
replace malfunctioning components. All communication devices slide easily in and
out of the front of the chassis. There is no need to turn off power when
removing or adding a device. Modular power supplies and fan assemblies can be replaced by
simply sliding out the module and sliding in its replacement.
