Video Tutorials Now Streaming Live At Black Box Web Site; "Tips For Techs" Delivers Multimedia Instruction To IT Professionals
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, February 7, 2008 — Building on its reputation as a leading technical information provider, Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ: BBOX), a provider of more than 118,000 networking products, including fiber, CAT5e, and CAT6 cable; KVM switches; digital signage; cabinets and racks; and network services, announced today the launch of a new series of “how-to” video tutorials, accessible as streaming media at its corporate Web site. (To view the videos, click here.)
The ongoing video tutorial series, named "Tips for Techs," presents useful technical product information to better educate users on technologies and product advancements in a way not possible through static media.
"These video tutorials are all part of our commitment to provide the IT industry with leading informational and educational resources," said Brian Kutchma, Black Box's Director of Marketing. "Streaming video has become a popular communication medium, and we want to provide customers with the right information delivered in a wide array of communication media so they can choose their preferred learning method."
IT professionals researching information on the Internet can now use the video tutorials to see a demonstration of how a certain technology or product can be best deployed in different applications.
The series' first video, for example, shows how to more easily and affordably extend high-definition DVI video plus audio at virtually unlimited distances. Kutchma said the video should be particularly interesting to technicians and A/V professionals looking for a simple way to distribute multimedia in a corporate messaging, education, or digital signage application.
Other video tutorials demonstrate how to best protect expensive IT equipment in a data center and the benefits of a fully tested and verified CAT5e or CAT6 channel solution. Upcoming video tutorials include a how-to on using the latest KVM (keyboard, monitor, and mouse) technologies to manage servers and share virtual media remotely over an IP connection.
In addition to http://www.blackbox.com, the Company plans to post the video tutorials on sites frequented by IT professionals and disseminate them through RSS video feeds.
