Ultimate connectivity.
This terminal server supports a variety of protocols, giving you super flexibility. SLIP, CSLIP, PPP, and Reverse Telnet™ support make this box more than just a terminal server. It’s really a communications server. With SLIP and PPP connections, remote users can access the network over serial lines and appear as if they were locally connected. For security, you can configure any dial-in ports for password authentication. In addition, the terminal servers can dial out to any PPP or SLIP server via a modem or ISDN terminal adapter link.
You can also set up any terminal port to be individually configured for Reverse Telnet. In addition to using Reverse Telnet for modems and printers, you can also use it to connect systems that don’t support TCP/IP or Ethernet. The terminal server works as a front-end TCP/IP processor.
Management is easy.
Preloaded ROM host software and SNMP MIB I and II support make management easy. For example, installing a terminal server takes less than 10 minutes. In simple applications, just set the IP address. In more complex applications, a user-friendly menu system guides you step-by-step through port speeds, flow control, password security, and PPP/SLIP connections. You can also choose your instructions in English, Spanish, French, German, or Italian.
For network administration, you can access any terminal server on the network remotely via Telnet. The terminal servers also support MIB I, MIB II, and proprietary MIBs, so you can manage all units on your network from an SNMP workstation.
Other Enhanced TCP/IP Terminal Servers are available with 2, 4, 8, or 16 ports. We have the terminal server for your application!
NOTE: Serial ports are pinned as DTE. To connect modems and other DCEs, use RS-232 cables pinned straight through. For ordering assistance with cables to connect DTEs such as terminals and printers, contact our FREE Tech Support.
