    With stereo audio or addressable duplex RS-232 communications support, our CAT5 Video, Stereo Audio, & Pollable Data Distribution System gives you more flexibility in your AV distribution or interactive digital signage applications.

    Use this receiver with the system’s separately sold transmitter to simplify and reduce costs in your extension installation. Save money by eliminating the need for additional CAT5 cables for stereo audio and bidirectional serial data.

    Along with VGA video, the system distributes stereo audio to remotely connected speakers and addressable serial data for independent control of one or more connected displays. The extender is ideal for controlling digital signage remotely—turn each display on or off, check and update display settings (brightness, contrast, etc.), and even receive data from interactive devices such as touch screens.

    You can also send RS-232 serial data from a media player or other content server to multiple daisychained displays and have them report back.

    The CAT5 Video, Stereo Audio, & Pollable Data Distribution System can be used for:
    • Digital signage display metric reporting.
    • Two-way communications with interactive touch screen kiosks in PoS/PoP retail settings.
    • Display control for “narrowcasting” content to a specific digital signage audience.
    • Displays that are viewed only certain hours of a day—to conserve power, turn screens off remotely.

    The system’s components are inexpensive, and they use ordinary CAT5 cable (but can be used with CAT5e and CAT6 cables, too) while maintaining the highest video quality even at longer distances.

    The receiver featured here supports distances up to 600 feet (182.9 m) over CAT5 or higher cable (receivers for longer distances, up to 2000 feet [609.6 m], are also available). Because it features built-in skew compensation up to 65 ns, it’s great for applications where you don’t have skew-free copper wiring. To adjust skew-delay, just turn a knob and observe the colored LEDs indicating which color is being delayed. The same knob, when pressed, cycles from skew adjustment to cable EQ, which you can use to adjust for your specific UTP cable length.

    All of the receivers in the family have a single RJ-45 interconnection port, you link to the transmitter over CAT5 or higher cable, and can be daisychained (for up to 12 receivers total*) for distributing video—as well as pollable serial data—to multiple screens.

    For audio, the system supports L/R summed audio transmission, combining both left and right channels from a stereo source into one channel for transmission to both left and right speakers.

    And though the transmitter has an HD15 VGA video connector, it can be used to output any type of analog video—no reconfiguration of the receiver itself is necessary! Just add optional VGA to RGB Converters or adapter cables for S-Video, Component, or Composite video on both transmit and receive sides.

    Plus, the CAT5 Video, Stereo Audio, & Pollable Data Distribution System is simple to set up and use. No software is required, and the system supports easy, external configuration of DC restoration and AC coupling as well as DDC/EDID modes, particularly when integrating sources running Windows Vista®.

    Also available: kits for mounting units in racks or cabinets, as well as a full-matrix 16 x 16 UTP switch and 1 x 9 Video Distribution Amp**.
