    Need to send high-resolution VGA video along with either mono summed audio or transmit-only serial data long distances? You’ve found your solution with our CAT5 Video & Mono Audio/Serial Transmit Distribution System.

    The system’s components are inexpensive, and they use ordinary CAT5 cable (but can be used with CAT5e and CAT6 cables, too) while maintaining the highest video quality even at longer distances.

    In addition to video, the system supports L/R summed audio transmission. Or you can configure the units in the field for simplex (one-way) serial transmit-only distribution communications.

    Plus, the CAT5 Video & Mono Audio/Serial Transmit Distribution System supports easy, external configuration of DC restoration and AC coupling as well as DDC/EDID modes, particularly when integrating sources running Windows Vista®.

    The receiver featured here works with the separately available single-port or 4-port transmitter to extend signals up to 1200 feet (356.8 m) over standard, non-networked UTP cable (other models, including one for 2000-foot [609.6-m] extensions, are also available).

    Even better, because the receiver features built-in skew compensation, it can even be used in applications where you don’t have skew-free copper wiring. The receiver supports skew compensation up to 65 ns. To adjust skew-delay, just turn a knob and observe the colored LEDs indicating which color is being delayed. The same knob, when pressed, cycles from skew adjustment to cable EQ, which you can use to adjust for your specific UTP cable length.

    What’s more, the receiver is daisychainable. You can use its second RJ-45 port to link to 11 other receivers for additional video displays*.

    And even though the transmitter features an HD15 VGA video connector, it can be used to output any type of analog video—no reconfiguration of the receiver is necessary! Just add optional VGA to RGB Converters or adapter cables for S-Video, Component, or Composite video on both transmitter and receiver sides.

    Also available: a 1 x 9 distribution amp and a full-matrix 16 x 16 UTP switch for use with the receivers of your choice.

    Need to send pollable serial data, not just transmit-only serial signals? Then see our CAT5 Video, Stereo Audio, & Pollable Data Distribution System components (AC1220A–AC1224A). Along with VGA video, they distribute stereo audio to remotely connected speakers and addressable serial data for independent control of one or more connected displays. They’re ideal for controlling digital signage remotely.

    NOTE: Not designed for Ethernet network operation.
