    It not only provides temporary battery power when electricity goes out, the UPS also enables you to recover quickly from UPS overload events. Plus it filters small utility line fluctuations and isolates your equipment from large disturbances by internally disconnecting from the utility line. And until the utility line returns to a safe level, the Smart-UPS SC provides continuous power from its internal battery.

    We have three models to choose from, including a rackmount unit that can also be set on its end to operate as an ultra-slim tower unit and offers 450 VA of output, as well as tower units that offer 420 or 620 VA of output. For other differences, including the surge rating for a specific UPS, see the Tech Specs below.

    All units feature surge suppression for network and telecomm equipment. You simply plug a telephone or 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX cable into the RJ-45/RJ-11 IN port on the back of the UPS, and using a separate telephone or network cable, connect the OUT port to a fax modem or network port.

    You can manage the UPS via its serial port. Each UPS unit comes with PowerChute® Business Edition software. With this, you get a proven UPS management solution that enables you to manage other Smart-UPS models and upgrade your UPS as applications change—all without the need to replace software or learn a whole new system. It also provides you with the means to monitor and control the UPS remotely. And, for centralized management, the APC Smart-UPS SC is compatible with the APC InfraStruXure® Manager application.

    To create higher application availability, Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) on the UPS enables you to correct low- and high-voltage conditions without using the battery. It also maximizes battery life by automatically adjusting the input voltage window or output voltage regulation.

    Front-panel LED indicators let you know when the UPS is supplying utility or battery power to the connected equipment, as well as when connected loads are drawing more than the UPS power rating, and when the battery needs replacing.

    The UPS also reports its status with audible alarms that let you know if there’s an overload condition and if the unit is operating on-battery or has a low battery. A periodic automatic battery self-test detects whether a battery needs replacing soon, and the UPS performs a preventive-maintenance fault analysis on the batteries.
