Use the Back-UPS® HS 500 to provide uninterrupted power during outages and safeguard devices with RJ-11, RJ-45, and coax interfaces.

Offering up to 51 minutes of runtime for critical applications, the Back-UPS HS 500 has four receptacles for plugging in various equipment, including VoIP phones and network routers.

The UPS has RJ-45 ports for making data line connections. Simply attach a modem cable to one port, then use a separate cable to connect your hub or router to the second port. A front-panel TX/RX LED lights whenever the Back-UPS HS 500 is sending or receiving data over the network. The UPS also has an RJ-45 LAN port for connecting a network device (or a computer via a crossover cable).

In addition to providing protection for network equipment, the UPS has RJ-45/RJ-11 in/out ports for a standard or DSL phone line to guard against surges or spikes traveling across phone lines.

The Back-UPS HS 500 also offers surge protection for cable modems, CATV converters, Digital Satellite System (DSS) receivers, or other devices using coax CATV cable. Simply plug the CATV, phone, Internet, or DSS line from your cable provider into the “Cable In” port on the bottom rear panel of the UPS, then use a second coax cable linked to the “Cable Out” port to connect your TV, VCR, cable modem, DSS, or CATV box.

You can manage the Back-UPS HS 500 outlets from any Web browser or within your local area network (LAN). This way, you can turn specific outlets on and off, and cycle power to outlets with equipment that has to be rebooted. You can also use this feature to conserve battery life for critical pieces of equipment during an outage by shutting power down to nonessential devices plugged into the UPS.

The Back-UPS HS 500 can also switch to battery power when power sags or becomes unstable. You can adjust the sensitivity to your requirements.

The UPS comes with software to assign the UPS an IP address, adjust sensitivity levels, adjust voltage transfer points, manage and monitor the UPS remotely over a network connection, and more. You can control up to five Back-UPS HS units through this management software.

Easy to monitor UPS activity.
Front-panel LEDs light when the UPS is supplying utility or battery power to the connected equipment, when connected equipment is ready to send or receive data over a network, and when the equipment is actually sending or receiving data. LEDs also let you know when connected loads are drawing more than the Back-UPS HS 500’s power rating and when a battery needs to be replaced.

The UPS also has audible alerts. Alarms let you know if there's an overload condition and if the unit is operating on-battery or has a low battery. A periodic automatic battery self-test detects whether a battery needs to be replaced.

A circuit breaker button enables you to reset the UPS if an overload condition forces it to disconnect from AC utility power.
