Black Box Resale Enhances In-house Capabilities in Conjunction with its Nortel Customer Assurance Program


Part of its ongoing commitment to stock, repair, remanufacture, and ship Nortel equipment.


PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, October 6, 2009 — As a follow-up to last week’s announcement about their Nortel Customer Assurance Program, Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX), an industry-leading provider of voice communications, data infrastructure, and product solutions, today reaffirmed its commitment to continue to repair and remanufacture Nortel equipment to the highest standards through its Black Box Resale Services division.

Black Box Resale Services’ extensive capabilities provides its customers the peace of mind that Nortel equipment and replacement parts will be available to maintain their communications systems and provides a long-term outsourcing solution for the inventory management, repair, and remanufacture of Nortel equipment. Black Box Resale Services regards this aspect of their business as a continuation of their goal to be self-sufficient in maintaining Nortel systems.

The expansion of Resale Services’ secure, climate-controlled facility from 53,000 square feet to 80,000 square feet in early 2008 enables more Nortel configurations to be completed in-house. Equipment is remanufactured and repaired on-site using highly trained, certified experts and proven processes to ensure the highest-quality products. Resale Services continually upgrades their testing equipment to enhance their repair and refurbish capabilities in order to provide support for the newest Nortel products, while maintaining their quality support for the legacy product lines. Other benefits of Black Box Resale’s commitment include solutions for system continuity and control of inventory costs with minimum stocking levels.

“We saw the need for excellent Nortel support and have responded by adding even more in-house capabilities. Resale Services also stores customers’ surplus Nortel communications equipment; maintains a Web site where customers can view the status of equipment under management; provides overnight advanced replacement service on single Nortel products 95% of the time; maintains in-house capabilities to program, configure, and test Nortel equipment; and provides a two-year warranty on refurbished and repaired Nortel products.

As announced earlier, Black Box also offers a Nortel Customer Assurance Program (NCAP). Under this program, Black Box commits to install and maintain Nortel systems, integrating new phones and other equipment with existing infrastructure until at least January 1, 2015. The program is designed to give customers the confidence that their Nortel systems will continue to receive a high level of support and service from Black Box.
